Local businesses in Newport have the chance to play a key role in sustainable drainage solutions, thanks to funding secured by Newport and Carisbrooke Community Council. The initiative provides a limited number of free water butts with sustainable drainage systems to help reduce storm overflows and combat local flooding.

Any business in the Newport area with a downpipe and a rear garden or courtyard is eligible to have a water butt installed at no cost. Additionally, the community council’s maintenance team is available to assist with installation if required, ensuring that participation in the scheme is hassle-free.

Businesses do not need to be members of the Newport Business Association to take advantage of this offer. If you know of a local business that could benefit, please share this opportunity with them.

This initiative is a step towards creating a more sustainable and resilient Newport, and community participation is key to its success.
